Paint Preparation and Refinish Technician

Clean, sand, block, feather, mask, seal, and prepare vehicle bodies, panels, parts, jambs, and surfaces for refinishing.

Apply and finish approved primers, surfacers, guide coats, seam sealers, corrosion protection, and related preparation materials.

Identify pinholes, scratches, waves, contamination, edge issues, masking concerns, and other defects before paint application.

Prepare paint booths, stands, parts, vehicles, masking, grounding, airflow, lighting, and cleanliness for scheduled refinishing work.

Support paint mixing, parts refinishing, panel handling, booth loading and unloading, and post-paint cleanup as assigned.

Protect finished surfaces, glass, interiors, mechanical components, openings, and adjacent work areas.

Maintain sanding, extraction, masking, spray, cleaning, and preparation tools and supplies.

Complete inspection and documentation steps before presenting work for paint approval.

Automotive paint-preparation, refinishing, bodywork, collision, restoration, or comparable surface-preparation experience.

Knowledge of sanding grits, block-sanding methods, primers, sealers, masking, cleaning, contamination control, and paint-ready surfaces.

Ability to recognize surface defects and maintain consistent preparation across large panels and complex components.

Careful handling of bare metal, primers, finished paint, trim, glass, and customer components.

Commitment to PPE, respiratory protection, ventilation, dust control, chemical handling, and housekeeping requirements.

Strong attention to detail, patience, consistency, cleanliness, and ability to follow product and process instructions.

Ability to work collaboratively with body technicians, painters, detail personnel, and quality control.

Relevant refinishing or safety training is beneficial.

Essential role in creating flawless foundation surfaces for high-end paintwork.

Clean, ventilated spray prep stations and dust-extraction equipment.
