Job Overview

Leads financial management, accounting oversight, office administration, and internal business controls. Responsibilities include budgeting, cash-flow management, financial reporting, job costing, work-in-process reporting, progress billing, payroll oversight, AP/AR, insurance, and contract administration.

  • Responsibilities

      • Manage the accounting cycle, financial statements, cash forecasting, budgets, reconciliations, close processes, and management reporting.

      • Establish and monitor job-cost, work-in-process, customer-deposit, progress-billing, revenue, labor, material, and subcontract-cost controls.

      • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing controls, expense reporting, collections, and customer billing.

      • Provide leadership with timely analysis of financial performance, project margins, cash needs, commitments, risks, and operating trends.

      • Coordinate insurance, banking, tax, audit, licensing, contract-administration, benefits, and outside professional relationships.

      • Develop internal controls, approval limits, document-retention practices, confidentiality standards, and administrative procedures.

      • Support accounting and administrative staff and coordinate information with operations, project management, parts, sales, and executive leadership.

      • Maintain accurate systems and records that support growth, compliance, customer confidence, and sound business decisions.

    Requirements

      • Controller, accounting-management, finance-management, or senior accounting experience in a project-based, manufacturing, automotive, construction, or service business.

      • Strong knowledge of financial statements, cash flow, budgeting, reconciliations, internal controls, payroll, AP, AR, and management reporting.

      • Experience with job costing, work in process, customer deposits, progress billing, project margins, or similar accounting concepts.

      • Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, reporting tools, payroll systems, and document-management processes.

      • High degree of accuracy, confidentiality, professional judgment, organization, and follow-through.

      • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to nonfinancial managers and coordinate with outside accountants, insurers, banks, and advisors.

      • Accounting or finance degree is preferred; CPA, CMA, MBA, or related credentials beneficial.

      • Experience supporting a startup or growing company is highly valuable.
