Media Blasting and Surface Preparation Technician

Set up, operate, monitor, and shut down fixed or mobile wet-media blasting equipment safely.

Strip coatings, paint, rust, scale, contaminants, and residue from vehicle bodies, frames, panels, parts, and approved surfaces.

Select appropriate media, pressure, flow, nozzle, distance, angle, and technique for the substrate and desired finish.

Protect openings, glass, bearings, threads, delicate areas, adjacent property, and components that must not be blasted.

Establish containment, ventilation, water and media control, cleanup, waste collection, and site-protection measures.

Inspect equipment, hoses, nozzles, compressors, pumps, respirators, supplied-air systems, PPE, and safety devices.

Document incoming condition, completed work, areas of concern, material use, and customer or project records.

Support equipment maintenance, mobile logistics, loading, unloading, and coordination with body and paint personnel.

Experience with wet, vapor, dustless, abrasive, soda, or other approved media-blasting systems is preferred.

Understanding of how pressure, media, heat, dwell time, and technique affect steel, aluminum, fiberglass, composites, and other substrates.

Knowledge of containment, PPE, respiratory protection, supplied-air equipment, ventilation, cleanup, and environmental controls.

Ability to inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot hoses, nozzles, pumps, compressors, water systems, and related equipment.

Careful attention to surface condition, distortion risk, sensitive areas, overspray, runoff, and surrounding property.

Ability to work at the shop and at approved mobile locations under varying conditions.

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for mobile assignments.

Safety, respiratory, environmental, or equipment training must be completed before independent operation.

Modern, safety-compliant media blasting and supplied-air gear.

Diverse shop and mobile operating environments.
