Paint and Body Manager / Lead Painter

Plan and manage body, preparation, paint, polishing, detailing, and surface-protection workflow and staffing.

Perform or direct high-level color development, paint application, blending, refinishing, and final finish correction.

Establish and inspect standards for metal finish, filler, blocking, panel alignment, gaps, surface quality, masking, cleanliness, color, gloss, and texture.

Coordinate body and paint milestones with fabrication, engineering, parts, project management, assembly, quality control, and customer commitments.

Manage paint materials, mixing systems, product documentation, booth schedules, environmental controls, equipment, and waste practices.

Review work in process, identify defects early, assign corrective actions, and approve vehicles or components for the next phase.

Train and coach body, preparation, paint, and finish personnel while maintaining production and safety expectations.

Protect completed work and control reassembly, polishing, detailing, and final presentation requirements.

Substantial high-end automotive refinishing, restoration, custom paint, collision, or show-quality body and paint experience.

Demonstrated leadership or management ability in a professional body and paint environment.

Advanced knowledge of surface preparation, primers, sealers, basecoats, clearcoats, color matching, booth operation, polishing, and defect correction.

Strong understanding of panel alignment, gaps, metal finish, filler, blocking, corrosion protection, and coordination with fabrication and assembly.

Knowledge of paint-system requirements, PPE, ventilation, respiratory protection, hazardous materials, waste handling, and shop safety.

Ability to plan work, manage materials, review quality objectively, and communicate clearly across departments.

Relevant manufacturer, I-CAR, ASE, refinish, or safety certifications are beneficial.

A portfolio or examples of completed high-level paint and body work may be requested.

Lead a state-of-the-art paint booth and body finishing department.
