Job Overview

Leads the sourcing, purchasing, tracking, and control of parts and materials for complete builds, service work, modifications, and shop operations. Manages vendor relationships, pricing, lead times, special orders, inventory, warranties, returns, cores, and subcontracted services.

  • Responsibilities

      • Source and purchase project-specific parts, service parts, materials, consumables, tools, equipment, and subcontracted services.

      • Develop vendor relationships, compare price and availability, negotiate terms, and monitor performance, quality, and lead times.

      • Maintain build-specific purchasing logs, purchase orders, expected delivery dates, commitments, costs, and receiving status.

      • Coordinate bills of material, technical requirements, substitutions, long-lead items, and approved changes with project and department leaders.

      • Establish inventory controls for stocked parts, consumables, cores, tools, warranties, returns, and customer-owned components.

      • Resolve shortages, damaged shipments, incorrect parts, backorders, warranty claims, returns, and supplier discrepancies.

      • Monitor parts-related risks that could affect production schedules, budgets, cash flow, or customer commitments.

      • Maintain organized records, approved vendor information, purchasing controls, and parts-room standards.

    Requirements

      • Automotive parts, procurement, purchasing, inventory, warehouse, restoration, performance, or project-materials experience.

      • Strong technical ability to identify compatible components, specifications, dimensions, applications, and potential substitutions.

      • Demonstrated vendor communication, pricing comparison, lead-time management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

      • Experience with purchase orders, inventory systems, bills of material, job costs, returns, warranties, cores, and shipping records.

      • Exceptional organization and attention to project, vehicle, part number, quantity, revision, condition, and delivery details.

      • Ability to coordinate effectively with engineering, project management, technicians, accounting, and suppliers.

      • Proficiency with shop-management, inventory, accounting, spreadsheet, email, and document systems.

      • Valid driver’s license preferred.
