Job Overview

Manages the service and performance department while providing senior diagnostic and technical leadership. Coordinates workflow, technician assignments, repair approvals, quality reviews, estimating support, customer issue resolution, and service equipment, while working with custom builds on diagnostics, dyno scheduling, and vehicle commissioning.

  • Responsibilities

      • Manage daily service and performance workflow, technician assignments, repair priorities, bay utilization, and promised completion dates.

      • Provide senior diagnostic leadership and support complex mechanical, electrical, drivability, and performance concerns.

      • Review estimates, repair plans, technician findings, parts needs, quality checks, and completed work before vehicle delivery.

      • Coordinate customer communication and authorization with service advisors while helping resolve technical or warranty concerns.

      • Schedule and coordinate dyno tuning, alignment, performance upgrades, road testing, and commissioning support for custom builds.

      • Establish department procedures for documentation, inspections, safety, cleanliness, tooling, equipment maintenance, and vehicle protection.

      • Coach technicians, support training, monitor productivity, and help maintain consistent repair quality.

      • Coordinate with parts, project management, quality control, fabrication, electrical, and other departments as needed.

    Requirements

      • Extensive automotive service, diagnostics, performance, restoration, or custom-vehicle experience, including senior technician responsibilities.

      • Demonstrated leadership or management experience in a professional service or performance shop.

      • Strong diagnostic knowledge across mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, HVAC, drivability, brake, steering, and suspension systems.

      • Ability to review estimates, labor operations, repair orders, technical findings, parts requirements, and completed-work quality.

      • Professional communication with customers, technicians, advisors, vendors, and other department leaders.

      • Experience with shop-management software, service information systems, diagnostic tools, and performance equipment.

      • Valid driver’s license and ability to safely road-test customer vehicles.

      • ASE Master Technician, manufacturer, dyno, tuning, or other relevant credentials strongly valued.
